The ideal candidate will have strong experience with ROS 2 and Linux-based development and will contribute to the design, integration, and testing of autonomous aerial systems. This position requires hands-on software development and system-level integration of hardware and software components. Responsibilities
Develop and maintain ROS 2 packages to support autonomy, navigation, and control of aerial robotic platforms. Implement real-time messaging between nodes, services, and custom interfaces. Configure and launch systems in both real-world and simulated environments. Support integration of flight control systems (PX4, ArduPilot) with ROS 2 through MAVROS or PX4-ROS 2 bridge. Assist with path planning, waypoint navigation, and state machine/behavior tree implementations using NAV2 or custom frameworks. Utilize tools such as RViz and Gazebo for simulation and visualization. Contribute to system configuration, containerization (Docker), and deployment practices to support team-wide development. As a requirement of continued employment you will be required to obtain TS/SCI clearance. Desired: Familiarity with PX4 or ArduPilot flight controllers and integration with ROS. Understanding of UAV systems, including GPS/IMU fusion, flight dynamics, and autonomous navigation. Experience with the NAV2 stack, including local/global planners, costmaps, and behavior trees. Proficiency in robot simulation tools such as RViz and Gazebo. Knowledge of autonomy frameworks including behavior trees (e.g., BehaviorTree.CPP), state machines, and mission logic. Experience with Docker for containerizing development environments. Exposure to 3D SLAM or visual odometry systems. Familiarity with Git workflows and continuous integration practices.
