We design for the future of mobility with a focus on individual experience and environmental responsibility. Role: Staff Variability Reduction Engineer, Powertrain Quality – Powertrain. The position manages quality and manufacturing aspects for powertrain manufacturing processes as well as incoming quality for powertrain material. This role interfaces between manufacturing, engineering, and supplier quality to deliver world-class quality products. You will qualify manufacturing processes, translate the voice of the customer to process specifications, and lead or support root cause investigations for quality issues. You Will: Support Quality Operating System implementation and execution within Powertrain, focusing on electrical components and operations (Control Plan, PFMEA, Quality Procedures). Evaluate and modify Control Plans and auditing strategies based on risk assessments and data from the factory and field. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to reduce and eliminate defects with a continuous quality improvement focus. Manage and own quality metrics reporting, publish data, and present improvement plans to factory leadership. Maintain and manage Control Plans and auditing strategies based on risk assessments and data from the factory and field. Validate and characterize new inspection processes and equipment to improve quality systems. Assist in creating detailed manufacturing instructions to document quality-critical characteristics. Support design of production and inspection workstations for quality. Align Manufacturing, Supplier Quality, and Engineering to improve Process Manufacturing Quality. Focus on continuously improving factory detection capability. Maintain strong part acceptance criteria knowledge. Create and implement departmental processes such as control and reaction plans to protect factory quality and delivery. Collaborate with supply chain and suppliers to align requirements and expectations and develop suppliers toward solid quality output. Participate in investigations of supplier quality issues to determine root cause and implement corrective or preventive actions; foster cross-functional relationships with the supplier chain team. Travel up to 25%, occasionally on short notice. You Bring: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering required. 5+ years of equivalent experience in the automotive industry, preferably with mechanical, powertrain or electrical components. Experience in powertrain manufacturing environment, preferably HV Battery. Demonstrated leadership ability to build teams and interact with senior management. Knowledge of Continuous Improvement, Kaizen 5S, and Six Sigma processes. Ability to implement and drive a Quality Operating System within the Quality Control department.
