Buena Vista, Canon City, Limon, and Sterling; applications accepted for all locations. State correctional facilities are located in Crowley, Buena Vista, Canon City, Delta, Denver, Limon, Pueblo, Rifle, Sterling and Trinidad. Responsibilities

Provide substance use disorder services to the inmate population, including formal and informal behavioral health evaluations, diagnostic assessments, and clinical interventions. Serve as consultant for unit staff regarding assessment, diagnosis, and treatment planning. Monitor inmate treatment and documentation to ensure compliance with standards and continuity of care. Ensure accurate information systems behavioral health needs levels and provide group, brief, and individual treatment. Provide clinical direction to non-clinical staff in behavioral health care and treatment of inmates. Assist continuity of care for inmates by making appropriate referrals and providing necessary information and documentation for receiving units, facilities, or agencies. Provide crisis intervention in accordance with clinical standards regarding mental health professional privilege level. Document handwritten and electronic records accurately and timely to support comprehensive inmate behavioral health records. Communicate with inmates regarding their behavioral health care, consequences of maladaptive behavior, and effects of prescribed behavioral health medications. Listen to inmate concerns and provide counseling and direction. Communicate with staff within the clinical unit, facility, clinical and administrative supervisors, and outside agencies to ensure continuity of care. Address complaints, problems, transfers, classifications, and inmate behavioral management issues; maintain program standards and safety. Promote safety and security of the clinical and correctional environment. Minimum Qualifications

Education/Licensure/Certification/Experience:

Applicants must possess a current, valid certification from the State of Colorado as a Certified Addiction Specialist (CAS) OR Addiction Counselor Candidate (AC-C) OR Licensed Addiction Counselor (LAC). Work Experience and Application Instructions

Required Competencies

Provide direct behavioral health care to inmates and comprehensive clinical documentation Work independently and collaborate across programs and external stakeholders Excellent verbal and written communication; maintain certification/licensure as an addiction counselor Work with a diverse inmate population; strong organizing, planning, and prioritizing skills Ability to multi-task, be flexible, and work as part of a multidisciplinary team Create accessible documents following plain language guidelines Maintain composure in stressful situations and respond to safety and security needs Preferred Qualifications

Experience providing addiction treatment to incarcerated and diverse populations Experience with resistant clients and multidimensional substance use assessments Experience providing addiction counseling in inpatient and outpatient settings Conditions of Employment and Other Information
