Compensation and Benefits
Estimated base pay: $17.81-$38.72 hourly
Shift: 6:00 am - 2:30 pm Monday-Friday

What you will be doing
Physical Activity:
Moderate physical activity requiring agility and dexterity, including walking, standing, or bending; and lifting or moving objects. Work is performed in area with moderate risk or discomfort that may require special safety precautions, such as wearing protective clothing or gear. May be required to pass Near Vision and/or Color Vision examinations.
Operate CMM machine and maintain CMM work instructions for the set-up and inspection of parts.
Communicate technological advancements in the form of new measurement techniques or products that can help Woodward to improve its ability to measure and evaluate product.
Perform advanced programming and operation of specialized inspection equipment (e.g., Talyrond, Nikon vision system, CMMs); discuss inspection results with those responsible and recommend necessary corrective actions.
Analyze and interpret blueprints, routings, evaluation sheets, manuals and other materials to determine specifications, inspection and testing procedures, adjustment and certification methods, formulas, and measuring instruments required.
Clean, maintain, repair and calibrate measuring instruments and test equipment and work closely with engineers and suppliers to define and implement inspection methods on new products during development.
Collect and analyze inspection data and make computations as necessary to determine inspection results and perform first article inspections based on work order instructions.
Communicate information to others about project status, updates, specific instructions, etc. and participate in NPI PFMEA activities.
Inspect manufactured components, train and mentor others, including suppliers, on best practices related to inspection procedures, techniques and tool usage.
Support Early Supplier Involvement (ESI) activities for new product introduction (NPI) by visiting suppliers and consulting them on the most effective methods for writing CMM programs for new product.
Stay abreast of technological advancements and breakthroughs in the Metrology industry by attending industry trade shows.
Promote teamwork within the organization.
Follow all departmental safety rules and regulations.
Use and put on all appropriate safety equipment, gear, and clothing/protection required by work activities.
What we are looking for
High School Diploma or equivalent
5+ years experience
Completion of advanced programming classes in PC-DMIS or other relevant programming software
Advanced knowledge of GD&T principles and their relation to inspection; ability to use this knowledge to facilitate communication between Design, Production and Metrology to better serve the customer.
The ability to read and use micrometers, functional and cylindrical gauges, comparators, indicator setups, scales.
Advanced knowledge of CMM operations including setup, programming, and controls.
Ability to use computer and web-based systems to input, access, modify, or output information.
Knowledge of part handling guidelines and specifications; researching part handling instructions using facility databases or work orders and following handling procedures required.
Knowledge of non-conformance procedures and processes when parts fail inspection; ability to log and track failed inspections and associated documentation.
Knowledge of and ability to communicate technical material to multiple audiences, including our supply base.
Able to notice minute inconsistencies/faults in parts and make timely, sound decisions; able to seek outside advice when needed and take action in uncertain situations.
Ability to write effectively, read and understand work documents, and communicate information clearly to coworkers and supervisor.
Ability to coach or mentor other members, through instruction and personal example.
General knowledge of machines and equipment functionality and how tools could be used; ability to learn new systems quickly.
Ability to identify opportunities to improve current production processes and implement improvements.
Ability to provide excellent service to internal customers.
Willingness to demonstrate eagerness, enthusiasm, and ownership of work activities.
Ability to take independent action and complete tasks without instruction.
Ability to define, diagnose, and resolve problems.
Knowledge of how quality impacts the organization and the ability to take steps to ensure quality and continual improvement.
Knowledge of Six Sigma processes and ability to apply Six Sigma principles to production processes (desired).

Ability to conduct a Gage R&R for CMM work and conduct capability studies from the CMM as required.
