Program and operate /CMM machine and maintain /CMM work instructions for the set-up and inspection of parts. Download CAD models to create optimal and reliable CMM programs for better and faster results. Programming and operation of specialized inspection equipment (e.g. Talyrond, Nikon vision system, CMMs); discuss inspection results with those responsible and recommend necessary corrective actions. Analyze and interpret blueprints, routings, evaluation sheets, manuals and other materials to determine specifications, inspection and testing procedures, adjustment and certification methods, formulas, and measuring instruments required. Clean, maintain measuring instruments and test equipment; work closely with engineers and suppliers to define and implement inspection methods on new products during development. Collect and analyze inspection data and perform first article inspections based on work order instructions. Communicate project status, updates, and specific instructions; participate in NPI PFMEA activities. Inspect manufactured components, train and mentor others, including suppliers, on best practices related to inspection procedures, techniques and tool usage. Support Early Supplier Involvement (ESI) activities for new product introduction (NPI) by visiting suppliers and advising on CMM program methods for new products. Other Functions

Advanced knowledge of GD&T (geometric dimensioning and tolerancing) principles and their relation to inspection. Ability to facilitate communication between Design, Production and Metrology. Ability to read and use micrometers, functional and cylindrical gauges, comparators, indicator setups, scales. Knowledge of CMM operations including setup, programming, and controls. Ability to use computer and web-based systems to input, access, modify, or output information. Knowledge of part handling guidelines and specifications; researching handling instructions and following procedures. Knowledge of non-conformance procedures and processes for failed inspections and related documentation. Ability to communicate technical material to multiple audiences, including suppliers. Strong problem-solving, decision-making, and attention to detail; ability to work independently and mentor others. Ability to write, read, and communicate work documents clearly; mentor others. General knowledge of machines and equipment functionality; ability to learn new systems quickly and understand how parts relate to system functionality. Ability to identify opportunities for process improvement and implement changes. Ability to provide excellent service to internal customers. Willingness to demonstrate enthusiasm, take ownership, and follow company policies and procedures. Ability to conduct Gage R&R for CMM-related work and perform capability studies from the CMM as required. Strong communication skills; ability to consult and provide expertise for effective CMM programming for new products. Knowledge of Six Sigma processes and application to production processes for continual improvement (desired). Mentoring ability and arithmetic proficiency; ability to process multiple types of information and tasks simultaneously. Attention to detail with strong hand-eye coordination. Ability to see details clearly to perform tasks safely and efficiently. Ability to communicate technological advancements in measurement techniques or products. Education or Formal Training
US high school diploma or equivalent required. Completion of advanced programming classes in PC-DMIS or other relevant programming software. Experience
5+ related work experience required. This position is part of an IAM Bargained Group. This position requires use of information subject to ITAR and EAR.
