Overview
Sabre Systems is recruiting for an Engineer (Systems), Senior to support the Systems Engineering Department (SED) for Platform Stores Integration (PSI) projects supporting PMA-265 at Patuxent River Naval Air Station in Lexington Park, MD. The program provides system engineering support of weapons systems on various platforms, including technical research and development of technologies, analysis, and documentation as part of the acquisition of Aircraft, Weapon, and Integrated Systems, and the evaluation of technical performance, mission suitability, and associated acquisition risks throughout the full acquisition process and lifecycle.
Responsibilities
Coordinate and conduct projects as assigned by the Platform/Stores Integration competency manager in support of the Program Manager and IPT leaders.
Plan, organize, and lead weapons and store integration activities, including engineering analyses, testing and evaluation of weapon systems, related subsystems, and components.
Develop requirements and store integration plans to ensure total weapon system performance.
Manage and execute the airworthiness process for all store integration activities; coordinate data requirements with airworthiness subject matter experts and ensure compliance with established NAVAIR airworthiness requirements. Review flight clearances for technical accuracy and safety of flight.
Provide weapons integration engineering experience, including familiarity with 1553 data bus architecture and Universal Armament Interface (UAI).
Coordinate projects with VX-23 (PAX), VX-31 (China Lake), and Original Equipment Manufacturer as needed.
Apply programmatic or technical knowledge to identify, formulate, design, and test practical solutions to engineering problems; guide the engineering development of modern complex systems; employ systems engineering methods and tools.
Review and prepare project directives, contract deliverables, detail specifications, TEMPs, contractor design approaches, and results of contractor testing to identify integration issues.
Prepare project correspondence (test plans, technical reports, letters, memorandums) and maintain communication with project team leaders, NAVAIRSYSCOM officials, competency management, and IPT members.
Represent Navy, IPT, and store integration during conferences, design reviews, program meetings, mockups, seminars, and symposia; provide technical inputs and prepare trip reports and action items.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in a technical or scientific field from an accredited college or university.
At least ten (10) years of recent and relevant engineering experience, with three (3) years directly related to DoD systems.
Demonstrated experience in an engineering discipline related to the position.
Experience with weapons and store integration.
Airworthiness experience and familiarity with NAVAIR airworthiness requirements, flight clearances, and safety of flight are highly desired.
Experience with F/A-18 Hornet/Super Hornet aircraft is highly desired.
Active DoD Secret Clearance or higher required.
U.S. Citizenship is required.
Compensation Base pay range: $70,000.00/yr - $200,000.00/yr. Senior level compensation is based on location, qualifications, experience, and contract-specific requirements; final compensation will be determined by individual qualifications and applicable contract terms.
