The Lead IT Project Manager acts, in accordance with PMI standards, as the principal project manager for large and/or complex IT programs and projects. The primary roles and responsibilities include the activities required to plan, execute, and deliver all relevant aspects of the assigned IT programs or projects. These aspects include project scope, deliverables, timing, and costs, as well as successfully managing and mitigating project issues and risks. In addition, this role provides coaching and mentoring to less experienced IT project managers, ensuring best practices are adopted enterprise-wide.
Specific Accountabilities:
Manages and is responsible for the successful completion of all Project Management relevant tasks in the assigned program or project. This includes planning, estimating, scheduling, organizing, documenting, tracking, and monitoring activities. Areas of special focus include change control, financial tracking, and issue & risk management.
Leads the project team by allocating and monitoring tasks, motivating staff, and providing individual performance data to resource managers for personal appraisals.
Liaises with other managers within the IT function and within the business to manage expectations for the assigned programs or projects.
Utilizes standard PM processes and methods specifically for IT projects.
Ensures that project metrics and lessons learned are appropriately documented and communicated for the benefit of other staff and future projects.
Helps to ensure the growth and success of project managers by providing training and mentoring in the established policies, processes, and procedures, as well as PM tools and templates.
Interacts with Security leadership and project teams and resources to drive project objectives.
Manages intersections with necessary groups across IT (e.g., TCOM, Network, Architecture, Midrange, and Desktop).
Interacts as needed with service providers and vendors, 3rd parties, and alliance partners.
Coordinates and facilitates multiple IT security projects across different security technology solutions, managing execution across individual active projects within a larger program.
Manages all project documentation, creates key project deliverables (project initiation, scope management, issues lists, sub-team status reports, communications and communication plans, project plans, resource planning, RACI, budget, documentation, specifications).
Needs to project manage global teams and global execution with multiple vendor management.
Also assists with project close, creates operational support documentation, and transitions to operations.
Manages project risks and issues.
Collaborates across a distributed global team and user community.
Collects and assembles requirements and design documentation.
Job Requirements & Qualifications:
Education Requirements: A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Business Administration, or Engineering is required, with working knowledge of information systems. A Master’s degree is preferred.
Additional Requirements:
Six-Sigma certification.
Minimum 10+ years of professional experience.
PMP certification from PMI is required.
One or more of the following certifications: CISSP, CISM, CRISC, or related SANS certifications.
Visa Requirements: U.S. Citizens / Green Card Holder.
