The Surgical Technologist, also known as a scrub tech, assists with procedures under the supervision of surgeons and RNs. You will perform tasks such as checking supplies and equipment, setting up sterile tables, passing instruments to the surgeon, and sterilizing instruments after procedures. This position offers hands-on experience in an operative environment and supports quality patient care before, during and after surgery. A caregiver in this position works days from 7:00 a.m. – 5:30 p.m. OR 6:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. with on-call requirements. You will be expected to excel as a caregiver in this role and support the surgical team throughout the patient journey. Responsibilities
Perform scrub functions and assist in circulating functions under the direction of a Registered Nurse (RN). Set up the sterile table and ensure appropriate supplies, drugs and equipment are available. Assist RN in counting all sponges, instruments, etc. at appropriate times during surgery. Assist in gowning and gloving surgical team members and draping patients. Ensure aseptic condition is maintained by the scrubbed surgical team through the procedure. Participate in the intraoperative “timeout.” Collect, identify and label specimens removed during surgical procedures and deliver specimens to the circulator for disposition. Coordinate surgical and clinical schedules. Assist with outpatient clinic flow. Provide information to patient and family. Assist with coordinating outpatient procedure room cases and supplies. Assist with marketing and practice development and orientation of new hires. Coordinate studies for the section. Answer patient phone calls, gather information and relay to the provider. Perform post-op phone follow-ups to patients based on provider instruction and relay information to the provider. Scribe for the provider in the outpatient clinic. Minimum Qualifications
Successful completion of a Surgical Technology Program accredited through CAAHEP or ABHES OR Certification as a Surgical Technologist (TS-C or CST) OR completion of a military Surgical Technology Program. Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA). Preferred Qualifications
Surgical Technologist Certification from an accredited Surgical Technology Program. Scrubbing experience. Physical Requirements
Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patients, manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination. Requires standing and walking for extended periods. Occasionally lifts and carries items weighing up to 25 pounds and may push/pull/sort heavy equipment. Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range. Requires working under stressful conditions and irregular hours. Exposure to communicable diseases or bodily fluids may occur. Medium work: exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Physical demands may exceed those for Light Work. Personal Protective Equipment
Follows standard precautions and uses personal protective equipment as required. Pay Range
