Surgical Technologists, sometimes called “scrub techs,” assist with procedures under the supervision of surgeons and RNs, helping ensure quality patient care before, during, and after the operative procedure. Responsibilities include checking supplies and equipment, setting up sterile tables, passing instruments to the surgeon, and sterilizing instruments after procedures. This role offers hands-on experience in an operative environment and the opportunity to make a lasting difference in patients' lives. Work hours:
Days between 7:00 a.m. – 5:30 p.m. A successful candidate will: Perform scrub and circulating functions under RN supervision. Set up sterile fields and ensure availability of supplies, drugs, and equipment. Assist RN in counting sponges, instruments, etc. during surgery. Assist in gowning, gloving, and draping patients. Maintain aseptic conditions throughout procedures. Participate in intraoperative “timeout.” Handle specimens appropriately and label them for disposition. Minimum qualifications: Completion of an accredited Surgical Technology Program or certification as a Surgical Technologist (TS-C or CST), or military Surgical Technology training. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association. Preferred qualifications: Surgical Technologist Certification from an accredited program. Patient care experience. Physical requirements include handling and lifting patients, standing and walking for extended periods, occasional lifting of up to 25 pounds, and working under stressful conditions. Personal protective equipment will be used as required. Salary details are discussed during the application process.
