As an Examiner, you will be conducting Compensation & Pension (C&P) Examinations for Veterans applying for disability compensation from the Department of Veteran Affairs (VA) in relation to their in-service injury claims. The role involves reviewing the claim, performing focused assessments of claimed injuries, reviewing medical records, and potentially rendering a medical opinion based on the record review and completed C&P exam. Charting from home may be required for this position. Each examiner plays a vital role in the overall experience of the Veteran by providing an exceptional examination experience.
Job responsibilities
Conduct Comprehensive Medical Disability Examinations: perform thorough medical evaluations of Veterans, including medical history review, physical examinations, and assessment of disability impact on daily life and functional abilities. Travel up to 10% to other Loyal Source clinics. Review and analyze medical records, diagnostic results, and other pertinent documentation to understand the Veteran's medical history and health condition. Render objective medical opinions based on examination findings, results, and medical record review regarding the extent of health issues and impact on work and daily activities. Understand and work in the case management system, organize workload, submit examination findings, and communicate with the Quality Assurance team. Collaborate with healthcare professionals as needed to obtain additional medical information for a thorough evaluation. Document examination findings in medical opinions and recommendations, following VA guidelines and contractual requirements. Coordinate with Loyal Source departments to gain support and use resources to meet deadlines and optimize performance. Manage time effectively and submit availability and scheduling for C&P exams. Ensure compliance with laws, regulations, and standards related to disability examinations, maintaining accuracy and quality in the evaluation process. Work with QA to submit thorough and accurate examination findings and comply with VA training requirements. Remain updated on all VA MDE program requirements and maintain confidentiality of patient information in accordance with privacy and security protocols. Adhere to HIPAA compliance; pass annual assessment; complete required training as needed.
Qualifications
Education and Licensing: Graduated from an accredited Physician Assistant program. Valid and unrestricted Physician Assistant license in the United States; not barred from practicing. Experience: At least 1 year of experience as a Physician Assistant; experience in medical disability examinations or related field preferred. Certification: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required; renewals as appropriate. Military experience or familiarity with military/veteran communities preferred. Clinical skills: ability to conduct comprehensive medical assessments, interpret diagnostics, and form evidence-based opinions. Communication: strong verbal and written communication; ability to present findings clearly to diverse audiences. Ethics: commitment to objectivity, fairness, and high ethical standards. Ability to work independently and collaboratively; strong organizational and time-management skills; customer-focused with a sense of urgency. Authorized to work in the United States and comply with federal contractor guidelines.
Travel and schedule
Travel: 10% travel required to support other clinics. Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8 am – 5 pm. Holidays: clinics are closed.
Compensation
Pay: Base + Monthly Incentive = $159,286.40 to $189,286.40 per year.
