Ritter Center is currently recruiting a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner for our Behavioral Health Team. This full-time, exempt position reports to the Clinical Director based in San Rafael, CA; the role operates out of our main Campus. Please find the full job description below. The Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) will provide outpatient psychiatric evaluation and medication management services at Ritter Center, a Federally Qualified Health Care for the Homeless Center. The PMHNP will work in coordination with Ritter Center’s Medical Clinic and Behavioral Health Department to provide psychiatric services to adult patients with behavioral health issues. This position will be supervised jointly between the Chief Medical Officer and Behavioral Health Services Manager. The PMHNP will work at our BH/Medical Clinic San Rafael office and in the field with our Health and Wellness Mobile Outreach Team throughout Marin County. The PMHNP will work in collaboration with an administrative assistant to coordinate client care, medication re-fills, and caseload management. Job Duties and Responsibilities
Provide psychiatric services to clients in a variety of clinical settings during scheduled hours, including outpatient psychiatric evaluations and medication management services. Assess, diagnose, and treat adults experiencing symptoms of behavioral health disorders. Prescribe, recommend, or discontinue drugs and treatments to treat mental, emotional or behavioral disorders. Collaborate with counselors, social workers, or other treatment team members to coordinate client care. Ensure timely and accurate completion of medical records, including assessment, progress notes, outcome measures, and billing entries. Counsel clients during appointments, as necessary. Examine or order laboratory or diagnostic tests to provide information on general physical conditions and mental disorders. Collaborate with guardians, relatives, and significant others on client’s conditions and treatment when clinically appropriate. Prepare and submit assessments, progress notes, reports, and summaries to entities/agencies (funders, insurance companies, etc.) as required. Minimum 1-2 years of direct client care experience with psychiatric disorders. No suspension/exclusion/debarment from participation in federal health care programs (e.g. Medicare and Medicaid). Return calls and emails promptly (within 24 hours of receipt, or sooner if clinically necessary). Make independent decisions based on protocols developed using national guidelines for treatment interventions. Maintain positive relationships with all agency staff and clients. Record all services performed for accurate billing in compliance with local, state and federal laws and payor rules; submit billing documents promptly. Identify opportunities to improve and promote quality care. Provide teaching and education to clinical staff if requested. Follow procedures and protocols per Ritter Center policy, federal and state regulations, and in accordance with the Collaborative Practice Agreement. Participate in agency and department education, training, and in-services to stay current with clinical policies and procedures. Qualifications
Master’s or Doctorate Degree in Nursing with a focus on Psychiatric nursing. Three years post-graduate experience as a PMHNP. Graduation from a state-certified advanced practice program specializing in psychiatry/mental health. Licensed as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse in the state of California. Valid DEA number and unrestricted DEA license in California. Per OSHA, ability to produce a negative TB test prior to start and COVID-19 vaccination (unless requesting an exemption) per state orders. Per Marin County DHHS, influenza vaccination required (unless exempt for medical or religious reasons). Employment Practices
