Network Ultrasound Technician

– Westchester Medical Center Health Network Job Summary: Qualified candidates will be responsible for performing high-risk perinatal obstetric (OB) ultrasound examinations in accordance with established departmental and governing agency guidelines and protocols. Responsibilities include scheduling oversight and ultrasound machine maintenance for expanding APS locations within the MFM department network, coordinating care with off-site locations, and performing ultrasounds for remote interpretation by MFM providers. Candidates should have special interest and expertise in prenatal diagnosis and the ability to communicate anomalies to the interpreting provider for immediate review.

Responsibilities

Perform diagnostic ultrasound procedures per standard protocols for obstetric, gynecological, and high-risk OB patients under provider supervision.

Assess patient condition and age-specific needs; image maternal reproductive anatomy and perform fetal assessments for anatomy and wellbeing.

Possess knowledge of perinatal ultrasound procedures which may include invasive procedures such as amniocentesis and chorionic villus sampling.

Perform fetal Doppler, 3D/4D rendering, fetal echocardiography, and nuchal translucency screening.

Communicate findings to the interpreting provider and ensure timely, accurate documentation; ensure proper patient identification and annotation.

Work independently to complete ultrasound examinations for remote interpretation; coordinate reports with referring offices/sites.

Coordinate patient instructions with office staff for proper prep; document clinical history and pertinent information for invasive procedures as needed.

Experience with ultrasound electronic medical record systems (e.g., Click View) is desired.

Support department leadership in network-wide growth and coverage as needed.

Qualifications/Requirements

Experience: Minimum of one year in clinical diagnostic ultrasound, or satisfactory completion of an approved diagnostic ultrasound program.

Certification: Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) or RDMS-eligible by the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS).

Education: BS or AS degree in a related healthcare field is preferable; graduate of a CAAHEP-accredited Diagnostic Medical Sonography Program is required.

Licenses/ Certifications: Current BLS for Healthcare Providers (CPR and AED) from the American Heart Association. RDMS certified or eligible; OB/GYN certification must be obtained within six months of onboarding if RDMS eligible but not certified in OB/GYN.

Special Requirements: Ability to work various hours and cover multiple locations across the network according to business needs.
