Responsibilities
Perform low- and high-risk perinatal obstetric ultrasound examinations in accordance with departmental guidelines and protocols. Obtain relevant history via EMR, image according to protocol, review cases with the care team, and generate preliminary reports using structured reporting software. Recognize normal and pathological conditions and apply additional modalities as indicated (e.g., Doppler, 3D/4D). Familiar with troubleshooting imaging IT issues; may be required to perform other duties as assigned. Collaborate with fetal cardiologists and MFM specialists; opportunities to learn Fetal Echocardiography and earn relevant credentials. Contribute to education by teaching fellows, residents, and ultrasound students. Engage in research opportunities with potential for publication and presenting at CME conferences. Workload and workspace designed to reduce the risk of work-related injuries; typical scanning volume is 6-8 patients per day on premium GE Voluson systems. Minimum Qualifications
Graduate of a CAAHEP-accredited Diagnostic Medical Sonography program. Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) in OB/GYN. BART or BLS at time of hire with commitment to obtain BART within six months of hire. Commitment to continued education in MFM ultrasound by obtaining at least 15 CMEs (20 CMEs for Principal level) every 36 months in OB ultrasound and/or fetal echocardiography. Recent, relevant clinical experience in an OB or MFM ultrasound setting. Experience performing nuchal translucency exams and/or 12-14 week detailed anatomy scans per AIUM guidelines. Effective verbal and written communication skills; basic computer skills. Demonstrate knowledge of sonographic assessment of maternal-fetal conditions, fetal anatomy, physiology, anomalies, and high-risk factors. Preferred Qualifications
RDMS or RDCS in Fetal Echocardiography (FE). Nuchal Translucency Quality Review (NTQR) Certification. Inpatient OB experience; 2-3 years OB ultrasound experience in an MFM setting. Experience with perinatal imaging modalities and advanced OB ultrasound certifications as applicable. Special Conditions
Must be able to work at various locations in the San Diego region based on business needs (e.g., Sorrento Valley, Hillcrest, Encinitas). Shifts are eight hours with various start times: typically 7:15 AM – 4:30 PM, 7:30 AM – 4:00 PM, 7:45 AM – 4:15 PM, or 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM. No call, no weekends, no nights, and no holidays.
