The Department of Anthropology at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign invites applications for a position in anthropological archaeology at the rank of Visiting Assistant Professor, with a start date of August 16, 2017. The appointment is for one year, with potential renewal based on departmental needs and performance. This is a 9-month, full-time, non-tenure track position. Salary is competitive and based on experience.
Applicants must have a PhD in Anthropology by the start date. The geographic area of specialization is open. The successful candidate will teach two courses per semester, with experience in undergraduate lecture and discussion courses (including four-field introduction to anthropology and topical courses such as women in prehistory) preferred. Evidence of research, including a publication record and an active research agenda related to the position, is required.
