Overview
Portfolio Manager - Real Estate role at Resolution Life. The Portfolio Manager will support the Portfolio Management (PM) team’s responsibilities in managing Resolution Life’s investments, with a focus on mortgage loans and overall Real Estate exposure. Resolution Life targets a diversified mix of capital-efficient investments, optimized for the best risk-adjusted return. The PM team executes the investment strategy through manager oversight, implementation of tactical market views, monitoring and managing emergent risks in the portfolio, and communicating portfolio results to senior leadership. The PM team collaborates with the Strategic Asset Allocation and Asset Liability Management team to set and monitor portfolio construction, asset allocation, asset class relative value, and market views. The Portfolio Manager will support the management and oversight of real estate allocations, including strategic and tactical decisions across residential mortgage loans (Single Family Rentals), commercial mortgage loans, structured real estate debt, and real estate equity. Review new investment opportunities and provide recommendations aligned with ALM, return and capital objectives Manage and monitor existing and new mandates, deployment, investment guidelines, portfolio performance, valuation metrics and risk exposures across a variety of residential and commercial real estate assets Design investment guidelines for Real Estate Debt mandates considering ALM, capital, liquidity and concentration limits Collaborate with external asset managers and internal stakeholders on underwriting, due diligence and investment structuring Support execution of commitments, secondary transactions, and co-investments across fund and direct platforms Prepare and present investment memos and recommendations to internal committees Maintain relationships with third-party investment managers, ensuring alignment with performance, risk and compliance expectations Coordinate regular reviews and reporting packages, including ESG and regulatory metrics Work closely with the CIO team, actuarial, finance, legal, and risk to ensure investment alignment with enterprise goals Assist in asset allocation modeling, capital forecasting, and internal reporting Support new pricing as well as onboarding of new business transactions Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree required (in Business, Finance, Economics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field); advanced degree (MBA, MS) or progress toward CFA or CAIA designation preferred 6-10 years of relevant experience in real estate investment management, credit portfolio management, or insurance asset management Strong understanding of real estate capital markets, mortgage products and their credit fundamentals Experience working with general account portfolios or institutional investors is preferred Proven ability to analyze complex investments, synthesize data, and communicate clearly to senior stakeholders Familiarity with insurance products and regulatory frameworks (NAIC, RBC, BMA) Proficient in Excel, PowerPoint, and investment analytics platforms (Aladdin, Intex, Bloomberg, Argus, Pitchbook, etc) Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and pivot efficiently Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills Strong collaborative team approach with ability to work across multiple internal and external stakeholders Team player who can establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external counterparties Location & Compensation
Location: New York, NY (Hybrid - 3 days per week in the office) Salary range: New York, NY: $205,800 - $251,500. The salary range reflects figures based on the primary location listed. The range may differ based on location. Resolution Life US is committed to disclosing a reasonable estimate of the base salary for job roles. These estimates consider a wide range of factors including skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, and other business needs.
