Olympia, Washington – Thurston County This is a hybrid opportunity, with a requirement to reside within the State of Washington and be available to report to the duty station in Olympia as needed. Job Responsibilities

The successful candidate will guide and advise accounting staff, manage and mentor the General Accounting team, and ensure compliance with Agency directives and policies. Supervise and mentor General Accounting staff. Manage General Accounting, including assigning and monitoring workload, directing daily activities, and overseeing general ledger reconciliation. Develop, revise, and implement policies and procedures, and participate in the development and implementation of accounting systems and internal control systems. Prepare and process journal vouchers, assist with year-end and biennial closing processes, and perform other accounting tasks as required. Working Conditions

Work setting:

60% in-person, with possible allowance for 40% telework. Schedule:

Typically Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM, with occasional requirement to work more than 40 hours per week or on weekends. Travel requirements:

Some travel may be required throughout the State to attend training, meetings, and conferences. Qualifications

Required Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in business, public administration, accounting, economics, statistics, or relevant field, and three years of professional experience in accounting, budget, finance, payroll, or public administration. Or one year as a Fiscal Analyst 4, or five or more years of professional experience in accounting, budget, finance, payroll, or public administration. Or Master’s degree in a financial related field, or certification as a Public Accountant, Internal Auditor, Governmental Financial Manager, or Management Accountant. Preferred Qualifications: Experience in public sector accounting, leading/supervising professional accounting staff, and with AFRS statewide accounting system and OFM's enterprise reporting system. Knowledge of current governmental accounting theory, principles, and practices, internal control procedures, and management information systems and financial management software applications. Ability to analyze and prepare complex financial reports, maintain efficient and effective financial systems and procedures, and accurately account for Agency funds.
