Senior Fiscal Analyst, Fiscal Analyst 3 (FA3) Recruitment #2025-10-7920 • Full-time, Permanent, Represented position (WPEA) Location: Natural Resources Building- Olympia, WA Work Hours and Partial Telework flexibility may be available and considered Salary: $4,410.00 - $5,929.00 Monthly Department: Department of Natural Resources (DNR) Division: Wildland Fire Management The DNR aims to protect, preserve, and enhance the environment for current and future generations. This position performs complex analysis and research on Wildfire expenditures, revenues, and purchase cards, and handles day-to-day fiscal actions for the Wildfire Division. It leads other wildfire fiscal staff in fiscal processes and provides training on purchase card use, invoice coding, and invoicing for other agencies and third parties. The position also guides the Aviation and Fire Cache's Fiscal Analysts and leads them in fiscal process updates. Responsibilities
Performs complex analysis and research on wildfire expenditures, revenues, and purchase cards. Leads other wildfire fiscal staff in fiscal processes, including providing training to new wildfire fiscal staff on purchase card use and proper invoice coding. Leads processes for creating invoices to other agencies and third parties, and other standard fiscal processes. Guides the aviation and fire cache fiscal analyst positions and leads them in navigating fiscal process updates or changes. Creates and runs complex custom reports, analyzes reports, monitors and tracks payables (including grant and contract payments), codes and assembles payments, and submits expenditure correction requests to accounts payable. Analyzes, calculates, and prepares invoices to other agencies to recover funds for services provided. Works on special projects such as yearly analysis to project wildfire revenue and assisting with the fiscal year-end close. Identifies and prepares accruals, expenditure correction requests, and belated claims submissions for invoices received after the fiscal year end. Required Qualifications
Fifteen (15) course credit hours of accounting, auditing, or budgeting Two (2) years of experience in the financial field (additional education may substitute for experience) Confidentiality Strong attention to detail Commitment to fostering and supporting an environment that honors diversity, equity, inclusion, and environmental justice practices Perform assigned duties in a manner consistent with applicable laws, regulations, and public records retention, and requests are followed DNR Core Competencies: Personal Accountability; Value Others; Compassionate Communication; Inspire Others; Commitment to Excellence Special Requirements and Conditions of Employment
Hybrid with a duty station at the Natural Resources Building Will regularly travel within Thurston County and periodically travel to DNR Regions Desired Qualifications
A bachelor’s degree in accounting, auditing, budgeting, or general business administration Two (2) years of experience working in Washington state finance 2 years of experience performing financial review and accurately analyzing fiscal data 5 years of experience using Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Outlook) Strong verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills 2 years of experience researching applicable state laws, policies, and procedures related to areas of responsibility Strong time management skills with the ability to plan, prioritize, and organize workloads Demonstrated ability to work in a team setting and independently 1 year of experience working in NaturE, FES, DATA MART, and/or Enterprise Reporting systems Application Process and Equal Opportunity
