$70,000.00/yr - $110,000.00/yr Position Summary
As a
Cost Accounting Consultant , you will be responsible for analyzing our current costing processes, identifying opportunities for improvement, and implementing best-in-class cost accounting practices. You will work closely with the finance, operations, production, and advertising teams to ensure cost transparency, optimize profitability, and support strategic pricing and budgeting initiatives. Key Responsibilities
Analyze and document current cost accounting procedures across manufacturing and advertising departments. Develop and implement cost accounting standards and systems tailored to multi-faceted operations. Review and optimize inventory valuation, standard costing, and job costing processes. Perform variance analysis (e.g., purchase price, labor, overhead) and recommend corrective actions. Collaborate with operations and production managers to understand cost drivers and identify areas for efficiency improvement. Evaluate profitability by product line, client, and campaign to support strategic pricing and resource allocation. Assist in budgeting, forecasting, and financial modeling using accurate cost data. Support internal and external audits related to costing and inventory control. Train finance and operational staff on improved costing procedures and tools. Provide ongoing recommendations to leadership on financial performance and cost-saving opportunities. Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA or CMA preferred). 3-5+ years of experience in cost accounting, ideally within manufacturing and/or advertising sectors. Strong understanding of GAAP, standard costing, job costing, and inventory accounting. Proficiency in ERP/accounting systems (e.g., NetSuite, SAP, QuickBooks Enterprise, or similar). Advanced Excel skills; experience with data analysis tools (Power BI, Tableau) is a plus. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills. Ability to work independently and deliver results under tight deadlines. Preferred Experience
Prior consulting or project-based work in a dual-industry (manufacturing + services/advertising) environment. Experience with job order costing and time/material billing models. Familiarity with project profitability reporting and cost allocations. Seniority level
