Primary Purpose of the Organizational Unit The Kinesiology Department (https://kin.uncg.edu/) has 27 full-time faculty. The department is one of 10 departments or programs in the School of Health and Human Sciences (https://hhs.uncg.edu/) at

Kinesiology faculty have a history of excellence in teaching, scholarship, and service, and the PhD program was highly ranked in the most recent (2019, 2023) National Academy of Kinesiology national rankings of doctoral PhD programs in kinesiology. Kinesiology is the 5th largest department at

serving approximately 700 undergraduates and 175 graduate students. The department offers B.S., M.S., M.S.A.T., and Ph.D. degrees (MS and PhD concentrations in Applied Neuromechanics, Exercise Physiology, Sport & Exercise Psychology, Curriculum and Pedagogy Studies) on campus, as well as the online Ed.D. and the online M.S. in Sport and Exercise Psychology. Position Summary We are seeking an innovative scholar in Kinesiology with interest and experience in graduate education to take a major role in our Doctor of Education (EdD) in Kinesiology program. The EdD in

KIN

is an online cohort-based, interdisciplinary degree program tailored to meet the needs of professionals in kinesiology. Our EdD students work in varied areas across kinesiology bringing professional skills and expertise to the forefront of their work. Their dissertation projects are designed to have real impact in their professional practice or community; translation of their findings into action is a key to a successful dissertation. The successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to balance a strong teaching and research portfolio with a commitment to supporting active kinesiology professionals in the field. Primary responsibilities include teaching, advising, and supervision of dissertations in the EdD program, maintaining an active line of research, and engaging in departmental, professional, and university service activities. The successful candidate is expected to work with the program director to continue to foster a sense of community within the EdD program and facilitate the dissertation process - a major component of this position. Further, all core faculty members of the EdD program are expected to be actively engaged with department activities and to participate in all virtual and in-person EdD activities.

Minimum Qualifications

The candidate should demonstrate the skills and potential for teaching and mentoring doctoral students focused on professional scholarship and practice from an applied, interdisciplinary perspective.

The candidate should also have a demonstrated record of nationally recognized scholarship (full or associate professor) or potential for establishing a prominent line of scholarship (assistant professor).

The candidate must hold an earned doctorate degree in kinesiology or related area.

Preferred Qualifications

Candidates should bring a broad perspective of the field to support the EdD students and to expand on the expertise of the current program faculty.

Individuals with one or more of the following additional qualifications are encouraged to apply: experience with survey or experimental methods, as well as action-oriented or community engaged research methods in kinesiology; experience mentoring doctoral students and/or kinesiology practitioners; experience teaching online courses.
