Senior Project Scientist - Wetlands Our growth offers an exciting opportunity for a Staff/Project Scientist – Wetlands to join our Environmental Services team. This is an excellent role for someone with experience in writing wetland delineation reports and an interest in conducting Phase I Environmental Site Assessments. The successful candidate will support a variety of natural resource and regulatory permitting projects across multiple sectors, including land development, transportation, energy, and utilities. This position will focus on wetland delineation, ecological assessments, and environmental regulatory compliance. Responsibilities Include: Delineating and characterizing wetlands and waterbodies using the 1987 Corps Delineation Manual and/or the 1989 Federal Manual for delineating wetlands and appropriate regional supplments.
Assisting to write and submit Environmental Assessments as part of NEPA reviews.
Writing wetland delineation reports and other technical reports for client and regulatory agency review.
Assisting with the coordination and management of environmental permitting, assessment, and/or compliance work related to various federal and state permitting submittals.
Other technical duties may include wetland mitigation monitoring, construction oversight, invasive species management, and species-specific surveys.
Perform and/or assist in T&E studies such as Phase I bog turtle surveys
Working with our Site Assessment team to learn and complete Phase I Environmental Site Assessments.
Attending client and regulatory agency meetings (virtual and/or in-person) and providing recommendations and input.
Perform threatened and endangered species coordination with state and federal coordination.
Utilize ESRI ArcGIS and AutoCAD services to generate supplemental maps and conduct GIS-related analysis
Required Experience: BS Degree in Biology, Ecology, or Environmental Science or related scientific or technical field.
5-8 years of experience conducting wetland delineations
WPIT, PWS or willingness to become a PWS.
Ability to access remote locations and sites for active field work in extreme weather conditions (heat, cold, wet weather).
Flexibility to travel, when needed, to support regional office objectives and project needs.
Familiarity in GIS, specifically ESRI and AutoCAD and related software
Intermediate to advanced GIS knowledge is a plus.
