We’re looking for an emerging Geologist to work on complex site characterization and remediation projects for government and private-sector clients. Based in St. Louis, Missouri, you’ll participate in field and office tasks related to planning and implementing environmental investigation and remediation projects. You’ll gain experience in soil and groundwater sampling, drilling, subcontractor oversight, and data evaluation, spending about 50% of your time in the field and balancing field work with reporting and project documentation in the office. Responsibilities
Participate in field and office tasks related to planning and implementing environmental investigation and remediation projects. Gain experience in soil and groundwater sampling, drilling, and subcontractor oversight. Evaluate data, write reports, prepare project documents, and coordinate logistics for field activities. Balance field work with office duties; prioritize multiple tasks while keeping the big picture in mind. Travel up to 50% to support field activities.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Geology or Environmental Engineering or a closely related science field. 3–6 years of professional on-the-job experience in environmental field work for site characterization and remediation projects, with understanding of methodologies and procedures. Knowledge and experience with soil, soil gas, groundwater, surface water, and sediment investigations; data assessments; and remediation technologies. 40-hr HAZWOPER certification and experience participating in health and safety programs. Physical fitness to perform fieldwork and wear a respirator if required. Ideally, Certification as a Geologist in Training (GIT) or Engineer in Training (EIT), with goal of licensure. Experience overseeing subcontractors and working on active project sites; strong attention to detail; ability to communicate concisely with coworkers, contractors, and clients.
