Our Builders Risk team offers Project Specific, Master Builders Risk and Contractors Block policies to clients with global exposure, and tailors policies to fit each client’s needs. Our North America Construction underwriting team is looking to add a Senior level, Builders Risk underwriter. Using your underwriting expertise, you will tailor high touch solutions for our current and prospective clients in collaboration with dedicated industry experts who have extensive construction risk management experience.
What you’ll be doing
What will your essential responsibilities include? Marketing to producers to secure new and renewal business. Reviewing submissions, terms and conditions, statement of values, loss history and catastrophic modeling; researching to determine the degree of risk for each account based on Builders Risk Guidelines and underwriting authority. Coordinating with internal divisions such as Actuarial, Claims, Reinsurance, Accounting, Marketing, Regulatory and others that support our businesses. Determining quote or declination of risk. Calculating rates and premium charges using approved rating models. Developing and modifying policy wording under delegated underwriting authority when standard forms are not appropriate. Actively cross-selling afforded products and services. Supporting service standards in delivery of builder's risk products and services. Mentoring and supervising underwriters, underwriting assistants and other team members; leadership and involvement in special projects as assigned by senior management. In this role you will report to the Head of Construction Property.
What you’ll bring
Extensive Commercial Underwriting Experience. Experience underwriting Oil & Gas accounts and Power Generation accounts. In-depth underwriting expertise related to construction managers, general contractors, and owners for Builders Risk accounts. Knowledge of Primary Casualty including Wrap-Ups and Excess & Umbrella liability is a plus. Ability to work self-directed and as part of a team, with an open-minded approach to solving complex issues. Strong insured and broker interaction within the assigned geographic territory, with ability to target contacts to promote products. Excellent written and oral communication skills; ability to work in a team environment and assist underwriters and deal administrators. Outstanding organizational, time-management and multi-tasking skills. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite. Bachelor’s Degree required; advanced education and/or professional designations (e.g., CPCU, IIA, CRIS) preferred but not required. Willingness to travel (approximately 25% travel within the assigned territory).
