Our Builders Risk team offers Project Specific, Master Builders Risk and Contractors Block policies to clients with global exposure. Our builders risk underwriting team tailors the policy to fit each client’s unique needs. Our North America Construction underwriting team is looking to add an Underwriting Manager. Using your in-depth underwriting expertise, you will tailor high touch effective solutions for our current and prospective clients, partnering with dedicated industry experts who have extensive construction industry risk management experience. What you’ll be doing and responsible for the essential duties of this role. Responsibilities
Marketing to producers to secure new and renewal business. Reviewing submissions, terms and conditions, statement of values, loss history and catastrophic modeling; conduct appropriate research to determine risk for each account based on Builders Risk Guidelines and oversee team portfolio management regarding limit deployment, attachment point aggregation, pricing adequacy and policy terms and conditions. Coordinating with internal divisions including Actuarial, Claims, Reinsurance, Accounting, Marketing, Regulatory and others that support our business. Determining quote or declination of risk. Calculating rates and premium charges using approved rating models. Developing and modifying policy wording in accordance with delegated underwriting authority when standard forms are not appropriate. Actively cross-sell afforded products and services. Supporting service standards in delivery of builder’s risk products and services. Management responsibilities: mentor, supervise and motivate underwriters, underwriting assistants and other team members; participate in leadership and special projects as assigned by senior management. In this role you will report to the Head of Casualty Construction. Qualifications and Skills
Moderate to extensive commercial underwriting experience. In-depth underwriting expertise for construction managers, general contractors, and owners to contribute to underwriting the full range of Builders Risk accounts. Ability to work self-supported and as an open-minded team player with a willingness to listen and tailor practical, unique solutions to complex issues. Strong insured and broker interaction in the assigned geographic territory with ability to target contacts to promote products. Excellent written and oral communication skills for internal teams and external brokers; ability to work in a team environment and assist underwriters and deal administrators as part of the team. Excellent organizational, time-management and multi-tasking skills. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite. Bachelor’s degree required; advanced education and/or professional designations (e.g., CPCU, IIA, CRIS) preferred but not required. Willingness to travel approximately 25% within the assigned geographic territory. Who we are
