Summary The senior grant administrator oversees the pre- and post-award grant process for assigned division(s) and establishes standards and deadlines for proposals, reviews proposals for completeness, and ensures compliance with organizational or foundation standards. Furthermore, the senior grant administrator maintains accurate and updated records of funding sources and grant applicants. Hybrid/remote work arrangements negotiable. Core Job Functions Mentors, supervises, and trains junior grant administration staff to further talent development. Approves and processes all purchase requisitions and vouchers for supplies, equipment, personnel, services, and reimbursements. Reviews expenditures and encumbrances and identifies and independently resolves any discrepancies, working with other departments to identify key issues and develop solutions or action plans. Works to closeout research funds and resolves fund deficits and under-expenditures. Assists in the departmental faculty salary budget process by managing and administering the allocation of research personnel funds. Participates in the development and enhancement of systems to improve functionality for administrative staff and investigators. Interprets sponsors and institutional guidelines. Prepares regular and complex special reports, financial statements, forms or studies for sponsors and researchers. Tracks grant applications and awards, and follows up with funding agencies. Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets. Qualifications CORE QUALIFICATIONS Education:
Bachelor’s degree in relevant field Experience:
Minimum 4 years of relevant experience Knowledge, Skills and Attitudes: Knowledge of generally accepted accounting procedures and principles. Knowledge of budget control methods, policies, and procedures. Ability to prepare financial and accounting records. Ability to analyze, consolidate, and interpret accounting data. Ability to compile, organize, interpret, and communicate accounting data and results concisely. Ability to manage a budget and work within the constraints of that budget. DEPARTMENT SPECIFICS: Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center (SCCC) has an exciting opportunity for an experienced, full-time Sr. Grant Administrator. The Sr. Grant Administrator works independently to address Pre-Award administration including preparation of sponsored proposal applications in adherence with sponsoring agency and University of Miami requirements. This is a departmental Pre-Award position. Works directly with faculty, subcontractors, and collaborators across UM to prepare proposals (new, renewals, supplements, transfers) and review awards. Advises faculty and staff regarding sponsored research administration issues, including appropriateness of budget items, interpreting a broad range of sponsor policies, government regulations, and agency terms and conditions. Ensures that sponsored research projects are managed in an efficient and effective manner consistent with UM and SCCC policies and procedures, and applicable agency guidelines, laws, and regulations. Completes or oversees completion of all necessary paperwork or on-line forms/programs for grant submission. Prepares and submits approved budgets in adherence with University and Sponsor guidelines. Communicates directly with the UM Office of Research Administration (ORA) on proposal and grant related matters. May collect institutional statistical data as required for proposals. Provides editorial review (non-scientific/programmatic contribution) of faculty grant proposals. Handles transfer of new and departing faculty awards from/to other institutions. Coordinates post-submission inquiries concerning status of proposals and award processing in sponsored offices. Performs non-financial post-award functions (RPPRs and other reporting). Manage processing of awards and agreements, which may include subcontracts and/or research agreements. Coordinates with external partners in the submission of inbound/outbound subcontracts. Maintains calendar and process reminders to PIs for renewals.
