The Department of History at the University of South Dakota is seeking applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in Teaching. The focus will include World History and both undergraduate and graduate courses. This is a full-time, 9-month position with benefits, within the Department of History, which offers B.A., B.S., and M.A. degrees in History, along with related minors and majors. Responsibilities:

Teach undergraduate courses such as World Civilizations, the History methods capstone, electives in the candidate’s areas, interdisciplinary courses, and participate in the University Honors program. The teaching load is 3-3. Occasionally teach graduate seminars and serve on graduate and Honors thesis committees. Mentor students and teach Independent Studies as needed. Develop an independent research program with peer-reviewed publications. Engage in departmental, college, university, professional, and outreach service activities. Minimum Qualifications:

PhD in History or a related field by the first day of employment. Ability to teach at all undergraduate levels and in graduate courses. Capability to develop an independent research agenda. Potential to publish in peer-reviewed venues. Effective written and verbal communication skills. Benefits:
