Design Release Engineer - Brake interface and pedals
Base pay range
$80,000.00/yr - $90,000.00/yr
Overview We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Design Release Engineer (DRE) to lead the design, development, and release of brake interface and pedal systems. The DRE will be responsible for managing the product lifecycle from concept through production, ensuring robust design, compliance with safety and performance standards, and seamless integration with vehicle systems.
Key Responsibilities
Own the design and release of brake interface components including pedal assemblies, brackets, sensors, and related hardware.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams including product engineering, manufacturing, purchasing, and suppliers to ensure timely and cost-effective development.
Develop and maintain DFMEAs, DVPRs, and design documentation.
Ensure designs meet all regulatory, safety, and performance requirements.
Lead design reviews and manage CAD data and BOMs in PLM systems.
Interface with suppliers for design feasibility, tooling, and validation.
Support vehicle builds, testing, and issue resolution during development and launch phases.
Track and manage engineering changes, validation plans, and release milestones.
Provide technical support for warranty and field issues related to brake interface and pedal systems.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or related field.
3–7 years of experience in automotive component design and release, preferably in brake or pedal systems.
Strong understanding of mechanical design principles, materials, and manufacturing processes.
Proficiency in CAD tools (e.g., CATIA, NX) and PLM systems (e.g., Teamcenter).
Experience with DFMEA, DVP&R, and GD&T.
Knowledge of vehicle safety standards and brake system regulations.
Excellent communication, project management, and problem-solving skills.
Preferred Skills
Experience with electric or hybrid vehicle brake systems.
Familiarity with simulation tools and CAE validation.
Exposure to global supplier management and APQP processes.
