The Chemistry Program at the University of West Georgia (UWG) invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor beginning August 2026. The successful candidate will have a strong commitment to undergraduate education and to developing a vigorous undergraduate research program in sustainable chemistry or in an emerging area that would complement existing strengths within the program. The primary teaching responsibility will be undergraduate courses, balancing scholarship and grant activity with teaching responsibilities, which will include a combination of lower-level and upper-level undergraduate lectures and labs. The lower-level courses will be mainly in the areas of organic chemistry or introductory chemistry for health sciences. The successful candidate will develop new upper-level courses with a focus on sustainability and incorporate sustainability components in other classes they teach. The successful candidate will pursue external research funding to support their research program and seek out interdisciplinary collaborations with other entities on campus as well as local industries. Responsibilities

• Teach a mix of lower-level and upper-level undergraduate courses in chemistry, including organic chemistry and introductory chemistry for health sciences, with a focus on sustainability. • Develop new upper-level courses emphasizing sustainability and integrate sustainability components across courses as appropriate. • Establish and lead an undergraduate research program in sustainability or a related area, including pursuing external funding and advocating for student involvement. • Develop interdisciplinary collaborations with other UWG programs and local industries to strengthen the curriculum and research opportunities. • Balance teaching duties with scholarly activity, grant writing, and service commitments. Qualifications

Ph.D. in Chemistry, Biochemistry, or another related field ABD (All But Dissertation) candidates will be considered if completed before August 2026. Proposed Salary
