Full Time Position Description:

The University of Iowa is recruiting an Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor for appointment in the Department(s) of Surgery, Pathology, Molecular Physiology and Biophysics, or Neuroscience and Pharmacology. This is a tenure or tenure-track position with a 12-month appointment, fringe benefits, and a competitive startup package. Renewal depends on external funding.

Research Focus Given the rising rates of obesity and its link to increased cancer risk, the Holden Comprehensive Cancer Center (HCCC) at the Carver College of Medicine has established the Iowa Cancer and Obesity Initiative (ICOI). The ICOI seeks faculty with expertise in:

Obesity-associated chronic inflammation and cancer risk

Lipid metabolism in cancer/immune cells

Immunoregulation in obesity

Obesity-associated cancer therapy

Successful candidates will join a collaborative, research-intensive community and work with other major research programs at HCCC to facilitate translational research.

Application Requirements

PhD and/or MD degree or equivalent, with applicable clinical training

Outstanding research, teaching, and service record

Strong publication record

Funded research program in cancer and obesity or immunoregulation

Effective interpersonal and communication skills

Board certification in Pathology or Surgery (for MD/PhD candidates)

Interest and experience in cancer/obesity link, immunotherapy, nutrition, or lipid metabolism (desirable)

Federal or Foundation funding as principal investigator (desirable)
