Quest Diagnostics is hiring for the Medical Laboratory Scientist II - Hematology & Chemistry role. This position is a Float role across Covington, LA and Metairie, LA with Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM shifts. Pay Range:

Consistently and independently performs clinical testing. Optional: perform forensic and clinical specimen collection and processing duties following established practices and procedures. Oversee preparation of reagents, media, stock solutions, standards and controls; evaluate new tests/reagents and track labeling and inventory. Determine specimen acceptability for testing; handle proficiency testing samples appropriately. Ensure instrument performance and testing accuracy; perform QC, calibrations, and report results; document shifts/trends to supervisor. Maintain instrument maintenance logs, daily temperature readings, and cleaning of testing areas; maintain and file records per retention schedule. Enter results accurately; review reports for accuracy; recognize critical values and take action; document actions taken. Identify and resolve technical/instrument/operational issues; notify supervisor and contact service support when needed; minimize delays due to non-operational instruments. Train technical staff; provide technical direction to staff; assist supervisor with training and feedback as needed. Assist in scheduling workloads and provide coverage at designated sites; participate in Quality Improvement and staff meetings. Take on additional responsibilities or projects as delegated, including evaluation of new techniques, procedure updates, and productivity measures. Maintain professional growth through continuing education; adhere to safety, infection control, and attendance guidelines; maintain a safe, neat work area. Qualifications

Required: Minimum of 2 years clinical laboratory experience; phlebotomy experience if performing/overseeing phlebotomy services. Preferred: 2 years clinical laboratory experience in a multiple RRL/Stat Lab setting and 5 years phlebotomy experience (if performing). Physical and mental requirements: ability to travel to multiple sites; self-motivated and able to work unsupervised; highly organized with strong communication skills; able to lift up to 40 pounds occasionally; long periods of standing/sitting; ability to perform repetitive tasks. Education: BS in Medical Technology preferred; or BS/BA in Chemistry or Biology; or an associate degree in Laboratory Science or Medical Technology; or qualification as a Technologist under 42 CFR 493. Knowledge: College diploma/transcript required; foreign-educated candidates must provide credential evaluation via IERF.
