Assistant Professor (Tenure Track) - Engineering Physics - Fall 2026 The Department of Physical and Environmental Sciences at Commonwealth University of Pennsylvania invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position in Physics beginning August 2026. Responsibilities
Teach core physics courses as part of the undergraduate program.
Teach electronics courses (analog, digital, and computer) in support of the Electronics Engineering Technology program.
Contribute to the department’s teaching and scholarship; engage students in classroom and undergraduate research settings.
Collaborate across disciplines, with potential synergies between physics, computer science, and related interdisciplinary areas.
Participate in service and departmental activities to support program growth and quality of education.
Qualifications
Minimum:
Ph.D. in Physics or Applied/Engineering Physics (ABD candidates considered with evidence of timely completion).
Minimum:
Demonstrated ability or potential for excellence in undergraduate teaching.
Minimum:
Evidence of scholarly potential in physics, electronics, and related disciplines.
Preferred Qualifications
Teaching experience in electronics (analog, digital, and computer).
Interest or experience supervising interdisciplinary undergraduate research.
Background in cutting-edge research, such as Quantum Information Science (QIS) or similar.
