Summary The School of Social Work in the College of Health, Education, and Social Transformation invites applicants for an Associate Professor position. NMSU is an equal opportunity employer.

Classification Summary The New Mexico State University School of Social Work is seeking a full-time, campus-based, 9-month, associate professor who will assist in achieving the School's teaching, research, and service mission. This position will teach a course load of 2-2 and be expected to maintain a rigorous scholarly agenda and service to the School, College, University, Community, and Profession. The faculty member must be able to teach across the social work curriculum at both undergraduate and graduate levels.

Classification Standard Duties The faculty member must be able to provide undergraduate and graduate instruction in various areas of the School’s curriculum in in-person, online synchronous, and online asynchronous formats. The faculty member will also participate in School committees, advising, scholarship, and service outside the School. Finally, the School of Social Work faculty members are expected to demonstrate a commitment to LEADS 2025:

Required Education, Experience, Certification/License, Equivalency

Possess an earned doctorate from an accredited institution of higher education in Social Work, or a related field.

Possess an MSW from an accredited University

Possess the ability to mentor graduate and undergraduate students.

Demonstrate effective communication and interpersonal skills.

Evidence of an established scholarly agenda

Evidence of providing service to the professional and/or academic community.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Be able to provide undergraduate and graduate instruction across the social work curriculum

Provide evidence of an ability to teach and mentor undergraduate and graduate students.

Be able to work with diverse faculty and students collaboratively.

Provide evidence of course instruction across multiple modalities.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

50% of the time will be dedicated to teaching, course development, and advising students

15% will be devoted to service to the institution, department, community, and academic field.

35% will be dedicated to scholarship.
