Required: Licensed as a School Psychologist in the state of Minnesota. Preferred: 2-5 years of experience working in an education setting. Certification from the National Association of School Psychologists (NASP). Responsibilities
Provide collaborative consultation to parents, teachers, and appropriate staff; assist school teams with RtI, pre-referral intervention strategies, and classroom accommodations to facilitate student performance in the classroom and at home. Engage in consultation processes with educators and parents; integrate data from home, school, and community as available. Assist with development of intervention and accommodation plans; provide jargon-free recommendations to staff and parents. Stay current with literature on crisis prevention and early intervention. Maintain a regular building schedule; inform staff of scheduling variations; participate in school meetings and teams; be punctual. Screen and evaluate referred children: select instruments, administer assessments, observe, and write reports with recommendations for educational programming. Interpret and communicate psycho-educational evaluation results clearly to the team and parents; provide jargon-free explanations. Assist with IEP processes: determine eligibility for special education services and contribute to documentation; provide input on direct service activities and curricula; participate in district and school-level planning for crisis prevention. Provide direct services through crisis intervention, early intervention services, classroom presentations, co-teaching, and in-service training; schedule and conduct sessions as appropriate. Maintain appropriate data on students; re-evaluate progress and effectiveness of therapy as needed. Inform stakeholders of goals and objectives of direct service activities; engage in crisis intervention as needed; provide in-service training to school personnel. Support and implement district policies and procedures; attend scheduled meetings unless excused; participate in district-level committees and planning. Supervise interns and support staff when applicable; provide regular supervision and consultation; orient interns to department practices; assess progress and provide feedback. Collaborate with community, health, and social service agencies; inform families and educators of community resources; maintain ethical standards and confidentiality. Provide school-related evaluation information to external agencies as needed to support student functioning and post-secondary planning. Perform other duties as assigned. Additional information
