Job Title: Research Faculty - Neurology - Neurogenetics - (Open Rank/Track Faculty) Department: Medicine | Neurology

Responsibilities and Focus

The Ohio State University College of Medicine Department of Neurology, Division of Neurogenetics, is seeking full-time, tenure-track faculty members at the rank of Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor to join a growing research team. Opportunities exist to contribute to multidisciplinary research in molecular, cellular, neurobiological, genetic, and/or genomic approaches to neurodegenerative diseases such as aging, Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias, and Parkinson’s disease, with an emphasis on translational applications. Ideal candidates will integrate cutting-edge approaches and techniques using human and/or animal models, high-throughput biomarker discovery, functional genomics, big data, and machine learning methods. The Division aims to combine clinical neuropathology data, deep molecular characterization of human tissue, experimental models, and bioinformatics to accelerate therapeutic discovery. Faculty will have opportunities to collaborate on research projects and publications and to pursue investigator-initiated work. All neurologic subspecialties and general neurology are welcome, and candidates motivated to grow their skills and broaden impact on healthcare are encouraged to apply.

Qualifications and Definitions

Tenure faculty (regardless of rank)

— Individuals with titles of professor, associate professor, assistant professor, or instructor who have appointments totaling 50% or more time and who are eligible for tenure or have tenure. Duties are assigned per workload guidelines of the TIU and regional campus as applicable. Requires a doctorate or terminal degree or equivalent experience.

Faculty Types

— The following definitions are provided for clarity within OSU: Clinical faculty (regardless of rank) are not eligible for tenure and have 3–5 year terms focusing on clinical care, teaching, and/or research.

Tenure-track faculty (regardless of rank) focus on research, service, and teaching and may be involved in clinical care if holding an MD or MD/PhD.

Research Faculty (regardless of rank) focus on research, are not tenure-eligible, and are appointed for one to five years.
