The OSUCCC-James Pelotonia Institute for Immuno-Oncology (PIIO) is seeking innovative immune monitoring experts for research-track faculty positions in the Division of Medical Oncology within the Department of Internal Medicine. The role involves serving as a co-investigator on sponsored research grants and co-authoring original research publications. Responsibilities include conceptualizing, planning, designing, implementing, and conducting research studies in the PIIO's Immune Monitoring and Discovery Platform (IMDP) across areas such as Cellular Immuno-Oncology (Flow Cytometry), Tissue Immuno-Oncology (Multispectral Imaging), and Molecular Immuno-Oncology (Immunogenomics). The position also entails developing and writing grant proposals for research funding, publishing in peer-reviewed scientific journals, presenting at scientific conferences, building a scholarly reputation, mentoring junior scientists and students, and participating in various institutional committees.
Minimum Education/Experience Requirements:
Applicants must hold advanced degrees such as MD, DVM, PharmD, PhD, or MD/PhD. A postdoctoral fellowship in immunology, immuno-oncology, hematology, cancer genomics, or pathobiology is required. Experience with shared resource laboratories in relevant technology hubs is preferred. Proven ability to write scientific reports and publish in peer-reviewed journals, understanding of grant writing, and research administration experience are required. The candidate must pass a background check and may need to complete a pre-employment physical and drug screen.
The PIIO is a comprehensive research initiative focused on harnessing the immune system to fight cancer, launched in July 2019 with a $102 million pledge from Pelotonia. Led by Dr. Zihai Li, the PIIO emphasizes Systems IO and Translational IO research, supported by the IMDP and IOIG groups.

Faculty Definitions:
Clinical faculty : Titles include assistant professor-clinical, associate professor-clinical, and professor-clinical. These individuals hold terminal degrees and focus on clinical care, teaching, and research, but are not eligible for tenure.
Tenure-Track faculty : Titles include assistant, associate, or full professor, eligible for or having obtained tenure. They focus on research, service, and teaching, and may be involved in clinical care if holding MD or MD/PhD degrees.
Research Faculty : Titles include research assistant, associate, or professor. They hold a PhD or equivalent and focus primarily on research; they are not eligible for tenure.
