Tenure Track Assistant Professorship in the Renaissance Mediterranean and Digital Humanities
Middlebury College, Middlebury, VT 05753. The Department of History of Art & Architecture at Middlebury College invites applications for a tenure-track assistant professorship in the Renaissance Mediterranean and Digital Humanities beginning in fall 2026.
The successful candidate will offer courses in their areas of expertise, participate in the rotation of the department's introduction to global visual culture, advise senior work, and contribute to the wider intellectual life of the College. In collaboration with the midd.data program at Middlebury College, this position seeks to expand the number of data-driven and/or digital humanities courses at Middlebury and add to our thriving community of faculty across the disciplines whose scholarship intersects with either of these fields.
Responsibilities include:
Teaching an introductory course in data science, digital methods, or statistics
Teaching an additional upper-level elective course in data science, digital methods, or statistics
Contributing to Middlebury's First Year Seminar Program and Winter Term course offerings
Serving on committees and potentially directing or chairing a program or department
Requirements include:
Ph.D. in Art and/or Architectural History by August 31, 2026
Experience as the instructor of record teaching undergraduates
An active research agenda in the Digital Humanities
