Overview
MIDDLEBURY, VT — The History Department invites applicants for a tenure-track assistant professorship in Latin American History, beginning in the fall of 2026. Research field may include focus or subfields in political, social, or economic history broadly defined. The successful candidate will be expected to teach about both Spanish Latin America as well as Portuguese Latin America. Responsibilities
Teach survey courses in both colonial and modern periods Teach seminar courses in areas of expertise, and a history methods course Supervise independent senior thesis projects Occasionally contribute to Middlebury\'s First Year Seminar Program and Winter Term course offerings as part of a full teaching load Contribute to service to the College including, but not limited to, committee membership and serving as Director or Chair of a Program or Department when asked Qualifications
PhD expected by August 31, 2026 Evidence of commitment to excellent teaching and scholarly potential Application details
