Overview

As an

Environmental Engineer

for the Underground Storage Tank and Leaking Underground Storage (UST/L.U.S.T) Program, Waste Management Division, you will be part of a team that protects and improves the environment by ensuring materials are stored and disposed of properly for the health and safety of our citizens. Responsibilities

Review a wide variety of industries/activities that handle and store refined hydrocarbon products. Analyze data, conduct onsite inspections, prepare, track, and review site remediation plans and technical reports. Provide technical oversight and training, and enforce the rules and regulations related to the program. Respond to inquiries from the public, community leaders, regulatory agencies, and business leaders about refined petroleum issues. Oversee UST removal/Closure, excavation and cleanup of leaking underground storage tanks. Oversee fuel sampling program and Open Record Requests from the public. Travel within the state (approximately 1-2 nights per month on average). Qualifications

Minimum qualifications for Environmental Engineer II: bachelor’s degree from ABET-accredited program in engineering and one year of related experience; master’s degree may substitute for one year. Salary: Environmental Engineer II, around $6,092/month depending on experience. Minimum qualifications for Environmental Engineer I: bachelor’s degree from ABET-accredited program in engineering. Hiring salary for I: around $5,802/month depending on experience. Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States; DEQ will not sponsor visas. About Team ND
