Job Summary General Atomics Electromagnetic Systems (GA-EMS) designs and manufactures electromagnetic and electric power generation systems. We have an exciting opportunity for a Cable Technician in San Diego, California.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Repair wiring assemblies and soldering fine pitch components to meet IPC610 class 3 requirements.
Build various cables that meet IPC620 Class 3 requirements.
Follow methods and sequences of operations for wiring, component installation, hand soldering, and cable harnessing.
Understand assembly drawings and written instructions.
Measure with tools like tapes, calipers, and scales.
Crimp terminals/contacts onto wires using manual and automated tools.
Label assemblies as per drawings.
Soldering, tinning wire, splices, and connections.
Perform complex repetitive tasks for electronic/mechanical assembly prep.
Use basic hand tools and equipment such as soldering irons and heat guns.
Maintain a positive attitude and willingness to grow.
Certifications in IPC610, IPC620, and J-standard are a plus.
Experience with material potting, fiber optic, and RF cables is a plus.
Assemble, disassemble, and modify assemblies as per specifications.
Perform 5S housekeeping and cleanup duties.
Work overtime and Saturdays as needed.
Observe all laws and regulations relevant to the work.
Work safely according to procedures.
Job Qualifications
Associate's degree or equivalent with 2+ years of experience, or equivalent experience.
Proficient with hand tools and lab equipment.
Capable of complex tasks with minimal supervision.
Willing to work with systems involving high pressure, voltage, energy, cryogens, or radioactive materials.
Knowledge of computer operations relevant to the field.
Job Type: Full-Time, Hourly
Salary Range: $56,180 - $83,518
