DSHS BHHA Food Service Supervisor 2 This position reports to the Nutrition and Food Services Administrator at Olympic Heritage Behavioral Health (OHBH), which is a facility serving adult patients who are civilly committed. This position provides oversight to the department by directing the daily operations of the cooks and food service workers. The Food Services Supervisor 2 oversees production and service of over 6,000 patient meals and snacks each month. This position supports the department’s performance by leading projects to improve department outcomes related to patient satisfaction, safety, and efficiency. This individual manages daily operations as they relate to ensuring regulation compliance with food safety and sanitation, inventory management, food production techniques, meal service protocols to ensure food safety, and diet order compliance. Additionally, this role has an oversight of daily meal assembly and service according to diet regulations and as ordered by the provider. Food Services Supervisor 2 is responsible for daily management of staffing, coordinating operations to accomplish duties of the department in an efficient and effective manner using technology systems to ensure operational reports are used to guide operations and staffing. This position provides customer service to our patients and staff, resolves problems or conflicts as they develop, and provides coaching and feedback. Schedule:
6:00AM-4:30PM. Friday-Monday. Responsibilities
Processes and makes corrections to tray tickets to align with patient diet order, preferences and nutritional standards. Documents inventory and requisitions food supplies throughout the facility. Inspects food storage and maintains inventory rotation and control. Ensure food items are stored in a safe place and any expired or near expired items are dealt with per regulations. Completes quality control check and verifies quantities of ordered food supplies. Plans, directs, and manages the preparation and cooking of meals, food reconstitution, and the proper use of equipment in a safe and sanitary environment. Prepare planned menus ensuring that menus are balanced, food is properly portioned and distributed, and quality controls are completed to ensure food meets nutritional standards. Ensures that all patients are accurately, safely, and promptly served meals. Ensure proper labor relations and conditions of employment are maintained. Coordinates activities by scheduling work assignments, setting priorities, and directing the work of subordinate employees. Manages the planning of work schedules. Reviews staffing patterns to ensure proper assignments. Oversees equipment maintenance and requests repairs or replacement as needed. Evaluates and verifies employee performance through the review of completed work assignments and work techniques. Provides coaching and guidance for performance improvement as needed. Solves/mediates personnel concerns as they arise. Perform evaluations for each subordinate, identifying staff development and training needs and ensures that training is obtained. Processes daily time and attendance ensuring accurate processing at the end of each pay period. Develops and enforces work expectations, policies, and procedures. Knowledge, skills, and abilities
Supervisory experience in a kitchen environment. Current Food Handlers card within 14 days of hire. Understanding of principles, methods, and procedures involved in a large-scale food preparation and cooking operation. Ability to exercise good judgment, use of problem-solving skills, and decision-making ability. Excellent written and oral communication skills with management and co-workers. Who should apply
Associate’s Degree in Food Service Management, Nutritional Care, or related field; AND 1 year of Food Service supervisory experience; OR Bachelor’s Degree with major course work in restaurant or hotel management, or closely related field; OR High School Diploma or GED Certificate with 4 years’ experience in an industrial, commercial, or institutional food service or patient tray service including one year as a lead, supervisor, or equivalent.
