5/1/25 Primary Purpose:
The BCBA is responsible for conducting comprehensive Functional Behavior Assessments (FBAs) and developing individualized Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs) based on the outcomes of these assessments. The BCBA ensures the effective implementation and ongoing evaluation of behavior intervention plans and educational programming for the students on their caseload. This includes providing training, coaching staff, and using data-driven decision-making to promote positive behavioral outcomes. Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
Master’s degree in a related field from an accredited university Valid Texas Behavior Analyst License* *You must meet the educational requirements of the Behavior Analyst Certification Board for the Board-Certified Behavior Analyst or the Board-Certified Behavior Analyst-Doctoral to apply for the Texas issued Behavior Analyst License. Experience:
Three (3) years of experience working with school-aged children with moderate to severe disabilities, autism and related disorders, or other developmental delays Experience and training in performing functional behavior assessments and functional analysis assessments, development of behavior plans, training, and use of emergency behavioral interventions Experience in developing and supervising interventions and programs based on the science of Applied Behavior Analysis Major Responsibilities and Duties:
Fundamental Responsibilities
Performs direct and indirect assessments to identify the function of student behaviors. Develops a treatment plan, including Behavior Intervention Plan (BIP), based on the functions of the behavior and evidence-based treatment methodologies. Board-Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA)
Collects data before and during the implementation of the plan to assess efficacy and inform data-based decisions. Manages caseload and prepares and submits all required documentation on time, including assessments, treatment plans, session notes, and data analysis. Collaborates with students, parents, and staff to develop an Individualized Educational Plan (IEP) through the ARD Committee process. Participates in ARD Committee meetings regularly. Acts as a positive role model for students. Communication
Establishes and maintains professional relationships and open communication with parents, students, colleagues, and community members. Professional Growth and Development
Participates in staff development activities to enhance job-related skills. Adheres to State, District, and school policies for classroom teachers. Attends faculty meetings and serves on staff committees as required. Other
Maintains confidentiality. Follows federal, state, district, and school regulations and policies for special education. Develops and maintains systems for information retrieval and documentation. Pursues professional development aligned with district goals and current research. Complies with all policies, procedures, legal requirements, and directives. Adheres to the Professional Code of Ethics and Standards for Texas Educators. Follows safety and emergency procedures. Performs other duties as assigned.
