Cost Accountant
to join its growing finance team and play a key role in driving accurate financial insights from the production floor to the executive suite. Position Overview: The
Cost Accountant
will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of product costing, inventory valuation, and cost analysis within a manufacturing environment. This role will work closely with operations, production, and finance leadership to analyze manufacturing performance, identify cost-saving opportunities, and ensure accurate financial reporting. This is an
on-site position
based near
Pittsfield, MA , ideal for someone who enjoys being hands-on in a plant setting and collaborating directly with production and operations teams. Key Responsibilities: Maintain and analyze standard costs for materials, labor, and overhead within the ERP system. Perform month-end close activities related to cost accounting, including journal entries and reconciliations. Prepare detailed variance analyses (purchase price, usage, labor, and overhead). Partner with operations and production to understand cost drivers and improve efficiency. Monitor inventory transactions and ensure accurate valuation of raw materials, WIP, and finished goods. Support budgeting and forecasting processes with accurate cost projections and margin analysis. Participate in annual physical inventory counts and cycle count reviews. Provide cost-related data and insights to support pricing, quoting, and product profitability decisions. Assist with internal and external audit requests as needed. Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required. 3+ years of cost accounting experience
in a
manufacturing or industrial environment
required. Strong understanding of
standard costing, variance analysis, and inventory accounting. Experience with ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, or similar). Advanced Excel skills and strong analytical ability. Excellent communication skills and comfort collaborating with non-financial teams. Detail-oriented, proactive, and eager to contribute to process improvement. Salary range:
