Overview

Assistant Director of Post-Award Finance (Hybrid/Remote) reports to the Vice Provost for Research Administration and provides professional support and guidance in the administration of grants, contracts, and related funds to faculty and staff. The role collaborates with the Office of Sponsored Programs on award management and implements strategic directions regarding research administration, faculty affairs, external relations with agencies, policy, and other business operations. The position may be considered for a remote work arrangement. Position Responsibilities

Advise, guide, and assist faculty and administrators in the management of sponsored awards. Ensure awards are financially managed following sponsor requirements, regulatory compliance, University, Federal, and State policies and regulations governing sponsored research. Ensure prior approval requests, progress reports, and other required documentation are submitted correctly and timely to the sponsor. Provide post-award transactional support for faculty portfolios, including commitment management, projections, cost transfers, and other grant management tasks. Maintain current knowledge of University and Federal policies and other grant and contract-related regulations. Assist faculty and staff in the financial management of sponsored projects, interpret award documents, provide appropriate documentation to set up grant/project accounts, and ensure financial compliance obligations are met. Partner with the pre-award/contracts/award team on complete grant lifecycle management, including crafting projections, identifying risks and delays to spending, requesting budget revisions, amendments, NCEs, and other award modifications. Provide Principal Investigators with regular account reports for all sponsored projects (no less than monthly). Cultivate and maintain strong working partnerships and effective communications with faculty, Principal Investigators, sponsors, and other key stakeholders. Provide direction, training, and assistance to Principal Investigators and department staff in award management, including budgeting and financial statements, interpretation of sponsor terms and policies, and University policies and procedures. Review terms and conditions on award documents as appropriate. Collaborate with the Pre-award team to negotiate award terms and facilitate agreements, including subcontracts. Play a key role in the development and continuous improvement of the grant management process, including analyzing client interactions, current methods, and submission quality; participate in implementing changes as appropriate. Analyze and understand complex information from multiple sources to manage awards effectively, including funding opportunity announcements, sponsor requirements, and Federal regulations. Keep abreast of laws, regulations, external and internal policies governing grants and contracts; ensure key personnel are compliant with regulatory, University, and training mandates. Perform other duties as assigned within the Controller’s Office. Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree and five years of related experience, or ten years of experience in a business organization or governmental agency performing grants and contracts administration. Thorough knowledge of Federal laws and regulations about grant and contract administration. Sufficient skills in information technology to demonstrate acquisition and use of web-based and other computer-assisted systems and procedures. Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor’s or advanced degree in business, accounting, or an appropriate field. Direct experience with the grant and contract post-award administration process in an institution of higher education. Thorough working knowledge of database administration and related software. Experience using a financial system (such as Banner). In-depth knowledge of OMB Circular A-21 & A-110 (Uniform Guidance). Knowledge of current trends in research administration. Skills & Competencies

Ability to serve as a liaison between granting agencies, University Administration, and principal investigators. Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills. Superior customer service orientation. Time management skills with the ability to work under deadline pressure without sacrificing accuracy or customer service. Outstanding organizational skills to manage a complex portfolio in a multi-tasking environment. Ability to work a flexible schedule to meet deadlines. Analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Salary Range
