Associate Director of Post-Award, Seattle University. Hybrid eligible after an introductory period. Full-time, 37.5 hours per week. FLSA Status: Exempt. Months per year: 12. Position Description
The Office of Research and Sponsored Projects (ORSP) supports SU faculty and staff in securing and managing external funding for scholarship, research, and creative works; pursuing strategic initiatives; and advancing community engagement. The Associate Director (AD) of Post-Award is a leadership role responsible for overseeing post-award operations, including financial monitoring, compliance, reporting, and award closeout. The AD coordinates post-award activities (budget revisions, faculty payroll actions, agency reporting) and serves as a liaison between faculty, university offices, and sponsors. The AD leads the development of post-award policies and procedures, supervises the Grant Management Specialist, and chairs the Grants Administration Partners (GAP) working group. As a member of the ORSP leadership team, the AD collaborates with the Director and other Associate Directors to promote responsible stewardship, institutional compliance, and efficient grant management. This role requires a proactive, service-oriented professional with initiative and a continuous process-improvement mindset. The AD will serve as a resource for grants management for the ORSP team and campus constituents, requiring excellent communication and customer service skills, the ability to manage complex logistics, support research and reporting efforts, and contribute to the ORSP’s strategic goals. Responsibilities
Lead and supervise central grants management staff and support professional development. Lead the Grants Administration Partners (GAP) working group and ensure timely completion of collaborative tasks and strategic initiatives. Develop, update, and implement post-award policies and procedures to ensure compliance with federal, sponsor, and institutional requirements. Draft and revise subaward and contractor processes, agreement templates, and related documentation. Develop and provide trainings and communications related to research administration best practices for the campus community. Coordinate with ADs of Pre-Award and RD; set up new awards in Workday and OneAegis; onboard project teams. Review and negotiate awards and agreements; serve as primary sponsor contact for post-award matters. Draft and review contract agreements including subawards, in collaboration with University Counsel. Monitor and reconcile grant accounts, conduct financial projections, and provide regular budget updates to PIs and project staff. Oversee processing and approvals of sponsored-project transactions (payroll, procurement, invoicing, etc.). Manage subaward and contractor agreements; coordinate sponsor communications; lead the award closeout process. Serve as ORSP liaison with university financial offices. Maintain compliance with federal, state, local laws, sponsor guidelines, and university policies throughout the sponsored project lifecycle. Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in education, public administration, business, or a related field; 5+ years of experience in research administration or sponsored project management. Experience in higher education or with federally funded research projects. Strong leadership, organizational, communication, and customer service skills. High attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities; proficiency with Microsoft Office and collaborative tools (e.g., Teams, Zoom). Ability to work independently and collaboratively. Preferred Qualifications
Master’s degree in a relevant field. 2+ years of supervisory experience. Familiarity with Workday; CRA or CFRA certification. Familiarity with federal agency reporting requirements and post-award financial processes. Application Instructions

Salary range: $83,600 – $87,550.
