Senior Principal Research Analyst, Oil Tanker Shipping - S&P Global The Oil Tanker Shipping team is a critical component of the CI (Commodity Insights) Shipping Analytics and Research business line. This team develops and maintains high-quality market intelligence and research flow for S&P Global Commodity Insight Freight Analytics products, delivering actionable insights to clients in a rapidly changing market landscape. What You'll Do (Responsibilities and Impact)

Market Intelligence Development: Lead the creation and maintenance of market intelligence and research flow for S&P Global Commodity Insights Freight Analytics products, ensuring high-quality data. Advanced Market Analysis: Develop advanced market scenarios and actionable insights for freight markets and trade flows, focusing on liquid bulk commodities (crude oil and refined products). Client Visibility: Drive visibility for clients into the dynamics of physical trade in liquid bulk and freight markets to enhance decision-making. In-Depth Trend Analysis: Provide analysis, commentary, and interpretation of current and future trends in liquid bulk commodities and freight markets, including supply and demand analysis based on the Global Shipbuilding Market and Maritime Regulatory Framework. Communication: Convey insights to clients through reports, presentations, calls, emails, and direct meetings with clear, actionable takeaways. Mentorship and Development: Oversee the training and development of Research Analysts, fostering continuous learning and improvement. Original Research and Data Mining: Conduct original research and data mining to identify marketable findings and enhance research capabilities. Documentation of Research Processes: Establish and document processes to create internal standards and maintain quality. Sales Collaboration: Work with Sales to analyze reports and communicate insights to customers, supporting client relationships and business growth. Project Management: Manage multiple projects and priorities to ensure timely completion aligned with team goals. Qualifications

Basic Required Qualifications Expertise in Market Structure: Deep understanding of market structure and dynamics in liquid bulk shipping with ability to analyze complex data. Freight Demand and Supply Drivers: Knowledge of liquid bulk shipping market analysis, macroeconomic principles, and drivers of freight demand and supply. Experience: Minimum 7 years of freight and commodity market experience, with at least 3 years in liquid bulk market analytics; experience in physical and/or paper (FFA) trading is beneficial. Technical Proficiency: Strong background in data analytics, machine learning, and economic forecasting models. Numeracy and Communication: Excellent numeracy and written skills; comfortable handling large datasets from unstructured sources; strong communication skills. Collaboration and Independence: Ability to work independently and with global teams across time zones. Software: Proficient in Excel and PowerPoint; knowledge of SQL and/or Python; data visualization experience with Tableau or Power BI is advantageous. Education: Degree or equivalent experience in a relevant field. Additional Preferred Qualifications Experience with Tableau, Power BI, SQL, and Python. Right to Work
