A growing construction firm seeks a seasoned accounting professional with deep construction industry experience to oversee core accounting functions including GL, job costing, payroll, WIP schedules, and ERP system management.
This role will lead all accounting operations for a construction firm, ensuring compliance with industry standards like ASC 606, enhancing internal controls, and providing financial insight to leadership and project managers.
Position Overview
The Controller will play a critical role in process improvement, ERP oversight (preferably NetSuite), and team development. Key Responsibilities
Oversee GL, job costing, A/R, A/P, payroll, cash management, and fixed assets. Manage monthly close, financial reporting, KPI dashboards, and cash flow statements. Prepare Work-in-Process schedules, ensure revenue recognition accuracy, and track job margins. Collaborate with PMs on budgets, cost tracking, change orders, and margin analysis. Oversee customer billing and compliance, including AIA billing and retainage. Lead process improvement initiatives to optimize accounting operations. Manage ERP system with preference for NetSuite, including integrations and WIP reporting. Forecast cash flow and analyze job-level profitability and working capital metrics. Coordinate audits, taxes, bonding, and compliance requirements. Lead, coach, and grow a high-performing accounting team. Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA preferred. 10+ years of experience in accounting/finance, primarily in construction or industrial services. Deep understanding of construction accounting, WIP reporting, and revenue recognition. ERP system experience required; NetSuite preferred. Strong Excel and BI/reporting tool proficiency. Demonstrated leadership, accountability, and ability to partner cross-functionally. Compensation includes base pay range of $120,000.00/yr - $140,000.00/yr, annual bonus, and benefits such as medical insurance, vision insurance, 401(k), and paid maternity leave. Seniority level
