We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Controller to lead our accounting and financial operations. This role requires strong technical accounting skills and a deep understanding of Work in Progress (WIP) accounting and Employee Stock Ownership Plans (ESOP). The ideal candidate will play a key role in managing financial reporting, ensuring compliance, and providing strategic insight to support business growth.
Responsibilities
Oversee all accounting operations including A/R, A/P, payroll, general ledger, and financial reporting. Maintain and analyze Work in Progress (WIP) schedules to ensure accurate revenue recognition and job costing. Administer and ensure compliance with ESOP regulations, including annual valuations, contributions, and communication with plan trustees. Lead budgeting and forecasting processes; track and report variances to management. Ensure GAAP compliance and maintain internal controls to safeguard company assets. Support external audits and tax filings, acting as the primary liaison with auditors and tax advisors. Provide strategic financial input to senior leadership to drive operational efficiency and long-term planning. Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA or MBA preferred) 5–10 years of progressive accounting experience, including at least 5 years in a Controller or Assistant Controller role Strong experience with WIP accounting and revenue recognition (preferably in job-cost industries like construction, manufacturing, or engineering) Hands-on experience managing ESOPs, including compliance, reporting, and employee communications Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage, NetSuite, Viewpoint, etc.)
