Job Description As an Accounting Advisory Services Managing Director, you will be responsible for leading teams that consult with Grant Thornton clients on complex accounting transactions. Your expertise will help engagement teams navigate technical matters and improve business processes, supported by resources, environment, and training to help you excel. You will build relationships with clients and project teams, engaging stakeholders to provide substantiated advice. From day one, you'll have access to firm leaders, training programs, and growth opportunities to advance your career.
Your day-to-day may include:
Overseeing multiple engagement teams on divestiture solutions, including evaluating carve-out readiness, supporting 100-day planning, and assisting in business separation for financial sponsors and corporate clients.
Supporting SEC filings for carve-outs and preparing carve-out financials.
Identifying market trends to proactively solve problems and advise clients and colleagues.
Assisting audit teams with accounting policies related to new, significant, or complex matters.
Training and supervising less experienced colleagues, providing regular feedback.
Working at client sites, remotely, or in-office, with flexibility and support to thrive.
Representing Grant Thornton at recruiting and networking events.
Building technical and professional skills through training.
Meeting business development metrics for revenue, sales, and cross-selling.
Performing other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications and Skills:
Bachelor’s degree in accounting, economics, finance, mathematics, or related fields; a master’s degree is a plus.
Minimum twelve years of experience in financial statement audits, accounting advisory, or transaction advisory services, especially in asset management.
Active CPA license.
Proficiency in US GAAP, SEC reporting, and related accounting areas.
Expertise in ASC 606, ASC 842, financial instruments, IPOs, or complex debt and equity topics.
Ability to manage multiple engagements and priorities.
Experience in business development and revenue growth.
Strong teamwork, relationship-building, leadership, and communication skills.
Ability to travel up to 80% on short notice.
Salary Range NY Office: $263,300 - $438,800
San Francisco/San Jose Offices: $280,400 - $467,200
Los Angeles Office: $263,300 - $438,800
