The Department of Counseling at the University of Nebraska at Omaha is seeking a tenure-track assistant or associate professor for the 2026-2027 academic year. The successful candidate will provide culturally sensitive instruction in the CACREP-accredited core and Clinical Mental Health Counseling specialization areas, engage in scholarly/creative activity (including external funding), and provide service to the department, college of education, university, community, and profession. The development and maintenance of positive relationships and partnerships with community-based mental and behavioral health organizations and/or school districts is expected. Duties include teaching courses in the core and clinical mental health; engaging in scholarly/creative activities leading to publication; advising graduate students; supervising practicum and internship experiences; collaborating with community-based mental health organizations; participating in service at the program, department, college, university, and professional levels; and generating external funding. Responsibilities

Teach courses in the CACREP core and Clinical Mental Health Counseling specialization areas. Engage in scholarly/creative activity leading to publication with the potential for external funding. Advise graduate students and supervise practicum and internship experiences. Collaborate with community-based mental health organizations and school districts. Participate in service activities at the program, department, college, university, and professional levels. Develop and maintain positive relationships with stakeholders in the field. Qualifications

Required Qualifications

An earned doctorate in Counselor Education or closely related field with CACREP core faculty eligibility. Preferred Qualifications

Content and working knowledge of CACREP standards; ability to engage in scholarly/creative activity leading to publication in quality peer-reviewed journals; ability to engage in professional service. Preference will be given to candidates with prior experience as a licensed professional counselor/mental health professional; proven ability to teach in a CACREP accredited core and clinical mental health counseling; a minimum of 2 years of experience as a licensed counselor; evidence of scholarly research, professional service, and external funding.
