Aurora University is seeking a Transfer Admission Counselor to recruit full-time and part-time transfer students to undergraduate programs. The successful candidate will counsel prospective transfer students throughout the admission process.
Position Purpose
The Transfer Admission Counselor is responsible for recruitment of full-time and part-time transfer students to undergraduate programs. Core Competencies

Upholds the Mission Statement: empowering students to achieve lasting personal and professional success. Handles all information with tact and discretion, recognizing the confidential nature of university business. Supports learning through performance of essential job functions and performing other duties as necessary. Essential Job Functions
Serves as a member of the Transfer Enrollment team, assuming responsibility for the recruitment of transfer students from an assigned territory. Helps manage community college visits, college fairs, businesses, and other venues to recruit transfer students. Researches and provides accurate information about Aurora’s degree programs and admission procedures for prospective transfer students. Counsels student applicants concerning admission, financial aid, career planning, and housing options. Maintains recruiting operations by following policies and procedures and reporting needed changes. Develops communication strategies to effectively promote Aurora University and transfer recruitment. Recommends and implements strategies to meet enrollment goals for transfer students. Evaluates college transcripts to determine whether students meet admission guidelines. Provides in-depth financial aid information to prospective transfer students. Supervises a student intern to assist in fulfilling admission representative duties. Essential Job Requirements
Education:
Bachelor’s degree required. Experience:
Experience in higher education is important, with experience in admissions or sales preferred. Skills: Sensitivity to the needs of and ability to relate well to transfer and adult students. Excellent communication and organizational skills. Customer-service orientation and professional manner. Knowledge of Microsoft software is essential, with knowledge of Colleague/Slate preferred. Ability to handle and act upon confidential information. Ability to interact with a diverse group of faculty, staff, students, and parents. Special Requirements:
Valid Illinois driver's license, ability to travel regularly, and some evening and Saturday hours required.
