The Admission Counselor reports to the Assistant Director for Transfer Admission. Supervision Exercised:

$50,000.00-$52,000.00 (Salary to be commensurate with education and experience) General Statement of Duties: The Transfer Admission Counselor is primarily responsible for recruiting prospective transfer students in an assigned territory and/or program from inquiry to enrollment. The counselor also assists in planning, organizing, and administering the day division admission program. Duties and Responsibilities: Provide accurate information regarding the enrollment process, including university programs and services, enrollment procedures, admissions criteria, and curriculum requirements for prospective students, school counselors, and related groups. Determine course articulation for transfer credits, including awarding credit, liaising with Faculty Chairs, and updating student records. Plan and execute travel in support of recruitment and yield efforts, in collaboration with the Assistant Director of Transfer Admission. Develop recruitment plans targeting transfer student populations, including academically talented, underrepresented, first-generation college students, and others as designated by the Director of Admission. Follow up with prospective, accepted, and enrolled students via calls, mailings, emails, texts, and meetings. Identify systems to attract dynamic students to Westfield State. Enter prospect data from recruitment events into the database. Participate in on-campus admission events and conduct information sessions for visitors. Review and evaluate admission applications as needed, determining admissibility based on college standards. Manage Dual Enrollment transcripts, review credits, and update student records accordingly. Build and maintain relationships with secondary school counselors and community college transfer advisors. Coordinate receipt and verification of official transcripts. Assist with technology initiatives, first-year recruitment, campus tours, and final admission statistics as needed. Handle phone inquiries and perform other duties as assigned. Engage in professional development activities. Requirements: Required Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree. At least two (2)+ years of experience in post-secondary undergraduate admissions, including recruitment. Valid driver's license and reliable transportation. Exceptional interpersonal skills for working with applicants, parents, counselors, faculty, staff, and the public. Strong communication and public speaking skills. Proficiency with computer applications and CRM systems. Critical thinking ability. Excellent reading and comprehension skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Strong organizational skills, with the ability to multitask and prioritize. Availability for evening and weekend work, and travel throughout the year. Motivated, energetic, creative, dependable. Preferred Qualifications: Experience with Slate & Ellucian Banner systems. Experience working with bilingual populations. Experience with transfer student recruitment. Knowledge of Westfield State University and its admission processes. Social media management skills.
